Pensive LTI 1.3 Integration for Blackboard

In this guide, administrators will learn how to configure the Pensive LTI 1.3 integration in Blackboard, set recommended options, test the connection, and enable features.

Configuration Steps

Step 1: Access the LTI Tool Providers page

  1. Log in to Blackboard as your LMS Administrator.

  2. Navigate to the Administrator Panel (select Admin in the left menu).

  3. In the Integrations menu, select LTI Tool Providers.

Step 2: Register the LTI 1.3 Tool

  1. In the top menu, select Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool.

  2. Enter the Pensive Application ID:

    dead2c80-a827-4292-b25a-1985689a928d

  3. Select Submit.

Step 3: Configure Tool Settings

  1. The Tool Status section will be automatically populated. Please verify that this is the Pensive LTI tool you want to register.

2. Make sure the Tool Status is set to Approved.

Step 4: Configure Institution Policies

  1. In the Institution Policies section, configure the following settings:

    • User Fields to Send: Select all options

    • Allow Grade Service Access: Set to Yes

    • Allow Membership Service Access: Set to Yes

2. Select Submit.

3. A purple banner indicating your successful registration within Blackboard will appear at the top of the LTI Tool Providers page.

✅ Success: The integration is now complete. Two menu items are now available for your instructors:

  • Pensive - For linking Blackboard courses to Pensive courses and syncing rosters

  • Pensive Assignment - For linking Blackboard assignments to Pensive assignments and syncing grades
